The Nature Conservancy
Loch was invited by Madge Bemiss, of Madge Bemiss Architects, to assist with a conceptual design and feasibility study for the Charlottesville offices of The Nature Conservancy. LoCh worked with Madge Bemiss on the program and LoCh developed a schematic package that met The Nature’s Conservancy commitment to the environment through energy efficiency and conservation. Working with Galen Staengl of Staengl Engineering, the featured project goals of LEED platinum certification and net zero energy consumption, were carefully incorporated into a design that reflects the attitude and character of the occupants. By respecting and understanding the existing structure and the details of construction, Loch was able to design options to transform the stuffy multiple tenant brick office building into a light filled environment reflecting the work of The Nature Conservancy. LoCh generated a full package that was used by Martin Horn General Contractors to establish a detailed construction budget, as well as worked with the Client to develop a full project cost and contingency.
