Henley Street Theatre

Henley Street Theatre was interested in the possibility of transforming the old Nolde Bakery Garage building, located in Historic Church Hill across from Saint John's Espiscopal Church, into a neighborhood theatre. The pro bono project explored fitting a 134 seat thrust theatre and bar into the existing brick box. Two small additions allowed for stage access and crossover to the back of house and access to an adjacent outdoor seating area. The concept explored the idea of "popping the top" of the building to allow height in the theatre and space for offices and dressing areas, while trying to  limit visibility of the vertical addition to comply with limitations set by Historic Preservation Tax Credit Guidelines.
